A top tip from our accountants, Stopford Associates. Something for you all to look out for and speak to your accountant and coach about…
Anyone who is currently being paid a salary of £475 per month (or £110 per week) in order to secure NI contributions should note that from 6 April 2011, this should be increased to £585 per month (or £135 per week).
There is quite a large increase this year which is due to the ‘nil band’ for NI increasing more than usual to assist the lower paid with the increase in the rate of NI from 11% to 12% (once earnings exceed this ‘nil band’).
Finally a reminder, that if you draw this level of salary, even though no tax or NI is payable on it, a PAYE scheme is still required and P35’s/P14’s still have to be submitted to HMRC (online) by 19 May following the tax year.
